A bit of family history. . . .
December 24 2009
Dearest Santa,
It is with deep nostalgia and grateful hearts that we write our final Galli family Christmas letter to you.
Through the last twenty-seven years, your love has shone through each Christmas into our home. We have loved the gummi worms in baggies, the chocolate, butterscotch and tapioca pudding, the Pringles and earrings. And Ariel loved the kippered snacks--at least we think she did! Hannah has had enough of the pickled onions, but that doesn’t matter now.
Thank you for your sweet way of remembering each one of us and your stealthy, happy surprises, your humble constancy. And please forgive us if we have contributed a bit to your sugar addiction. We’re all fighting that around here!
We have been hoping that you made time to read the Joseph Smith pamphlet we left you a few years ago. We urge you and Mrs. Santa to look even further into the gospel of Jesus Christ. You would make such good missionaries to people of all ages around the world. The traveling and languages should not be a problem for you!
As for us, we will continue to do our very best to prepare the way for the Prince of Peace, the Babe of Bethlehem. After all, it has been but a portion of His light and love that you have humbly shared with us all these years. From now on, we, our children and grandchildren will be very busy preparing the way for Him to visit all of us one astonishing day--not in the quiet of darkness, but in a noontime blaze of glory. Not in the imaginations of our hearts, but in our very eyes and ears.
For tonight, please enjoy the eggnog and the cookies one more time, and may the Lord bless you always, as you have always blessed us. Your fond memory will linger through every Christmas in our home forever.
And who knows, maybe some Christmas mornings, a little pudding and some kippered snacks might appear after all. We wouldn’t put it past you.
With Love and Gratitude,
Craig
